The Lost Spartan Girl (2019)

The main character of this documentary, Fang, is one of my best friends in the Chinese Junior National Taekwondo Team. In China, professional athletes of less popular sports often are forced to take on the athletic path in an attempt to help their families in poverty. They don't have a choice apart from earning the Olympic gold medal. If found incompetent to become the best, they're immediately dismissed from the team. Because of the limited education that they receive after choosing the athletic path, their futures after being dismissed is often bleak and directionless.
